May is California Archaeology Month, and the San Diego County Archaeological Society will offer a variety of family activities.

"Arch in the Park" will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 14 at the ranch house in Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve.

Visitors to the preserve can meet archaeologists, observe an archaeological excavation and learn how stone tools are made. Children can participate in a mock excavation, education games and crafts.
