Rancho Christmas

November 29th & 30th, 2003
10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Celebrate an old-fashion Christmas, as you wander the 22 rooms at Rancho Guajome Adobe, which was built in 1853. The adobe will be decorated to replicate Christmas in the 1800's, using natural materials to make wreaths, garlands, and centerpieces.

  • All children's activities are free with admission! See the awe in your child's eyes as they make their own candle, candy apple, and corn husk dolls. Watch them smile from ear to ear as they circle the Rancho on a horse wagon pulled by draft mules. The resident blacksmith will also be on hand demonstrating the art of forging metal and making 'unicorn' horseshoes the children can take home. For a minimal charge, children can also try panning for real gold!

  • On Saturday only, the event will culminate at sundown (at approximately 4:30 p.m.) with the lighting of the luminaries in the inner-courtyard. Sip free hot cider and enjoy Christmas caroling until nightfall.

  • Find something for that special someone on your holiday list with craft vendors selling unique and special gifts representing period crafts and modern ones, too.

  • There will also be musical entertainment, free popcorn and much more!
